plan your night

The summer is a good season to discover the night sky. A stargazing structure is installed in the middle of the park, but you are welcome to bring your own deckchair. It can be useful if you want to set somewhere independently.

you don't need a guide

First, check the moon calendar. Moonless nights work better for seeing the stars, although gazing at a full Moon can be an enjoyable experience in itself.

Temperatures drop quickly in the evening. Bring extra layers of warm clothing and confortable shoes.

Food and beverage. Plan ahead. There is no running water in most areas of the Dark Sky Reserve.

Take a bin bag for your trash. Please leave the place clean.

Use red lights only. Do not use bright white flashlights, headlamps, or cell phones. It takes 20 to 30 minutes for the human eye to fully adjust to very low light conditions. Bright lights delay this process. You can turn a regular flashlight into a red light by covering it with red cellophane, tape, fabric, paper, or similar materials.
If you need to use your cell phone you can turn your iPhone screen red by adjusting the settings and for Android you can download an application for that.
Once you're set up, allow 10 to 15 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark, and try not to look at phone screens or torches. Patience is key.

Plants, nocturnal animals, and uneven surfaces may be difficult to see at night. Use a red light to check your viewing.

Put your phone on silent mode to respect the natural sound of the place.
